Freedom, Maine

From the August 8, 2005 Republican Journal:
FREEDOM - A Freedom man held two suspected thieves at gunpoint early Monday morning after the pair attempted to steal gasoline and oil from his business, according to police.

Brian Mitchell, owner of Mitchell's Roofing and Sheet Metal on the North Palermo Road in Freedom, told police he has had 280 to 300 gallons of gasoline, as well as several quarts of oil stolen from his property in the last two months.

Hoping to catch the suspects in the act, Mitchell had installed a burglar alarm system, which made noise inside of his home. He went outside to check his equipment where he discovered the two suspects in the process of siphoning gasoline.

His wife phoned police at 12:45 a.m., saying her husband had apprehended them at gunpoint.
