Police: Home Invasion Suspect Killed After Homeowner Chases Him

An alleged home invasion suspect in Orange County, Fla., was shot and killed over the weekend after a homeowner he just robbed chased him until police could get involved, according to Local 6 News.

Investigators said four men with guns burst into a home located on Livingston in Pine Hills, Fla., after midnight Sunday.

The men allegedly ordered the family, even the children, to lie face down on a floor during the invasion, police said.

After stealing some jewelry, the men fled, police said. However, the homeowner chased after them and shots were apparently exchanged, according to Local 6 News.

"It goes to show you, we have had quite a few home invasions, just how dangerous they are, Orange County Sheriff's spokeswoman Barbara Miller said. "This one became more dangerous when the victims actually followed the suspects until police could get involved. Thankfully our training proved helpful."

The other suspects were tracked to Apopka, Fla., where they allegedly fired shots at a deputy.

One of the men was shot and killed and another was captured, according to the report. Two other men allegedly involved in the home invasion remain on the loose, Local 6 News reported Sunday night.

Police said the family was shaken by the incident, but there were no reported injuries.
